PN says Ombudsman investigating illegal Comino development Nationalist MP Robert Cutajar says Environment Commissioner Alan Saliba has informed the Planning Authority and the Environment and Resource Authority that he will be investigating the illegal development   5 April 2021, 8:14pm by Karl Azzopardi The Nationalist Party has said the Office of the Ombudsman is looking into construction work being carried out on a road leading to Comino’s Blue Lagoon.   The project, first flagged by independent candidate Arnold Cassola, was halted last month by the Environment and Resource Authority (ERA) due to surrounding damages.   ERA said that it had ordered the contractor to stop works in the Nature 2000 site.  

SBP bill proposes five-year term for governor, other members of MPC

National April 4, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The government has proposed extending tenure of governor, deputy governors, non- executive directors, and external members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from three to five-year term under State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2021 to bring it in line with the tenure of the politically-elected government. According to the draft of the SBP amendment bill 2021, the Governor, Deputy Governors, the executive directors and the external members of the Monetary Policy Committee shall be appointed for a term of five years and shall be eligible for one re-appointment for another term of five years. No person shall hold the office of the Governor or Deputy Governor after attaining the age of 65 years. The proposed bill states that all the aforementioned members of the Monetary Policy Committee shall not be eligible to become a Director or Member after vacating the office until the expiry of the term of office for which they were appointed: p

Malta to Welcome Back Vaccinated British Travellers 04 April 2021 As of 1 June 2020, Malta will welcome passengers from the UK who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the country. British travellers who can show proof of full vaccination received at least ten days before arriving in the country will no longer have to provide a negative PCR test certificate 72 hours prior to, or on arrival in Malta. Passengers will need to show their vaccination card when boarding to be accepted to travel. If for any reason a vaccination card cannot be shown, a negative PCR test must be presented. Malta is second to the UK in terms of European countries vaccinating the greatest proportion of its population, with 40% of the adult population having received its first dose, making the destination a safe choice for future travel.
